The Prince of Air & The Great Beyond
Hungry for plays that contained, celebrated, and used magic within their storytelling, Firefly commissioned playwright Jim Knable, whose plays have been produced at numerous regional theaters, including Spain produced by MCC at the Lucille Lortel, directed by Jeremy Dobrish, and starring Annabella Sciorra. The commission resulted in two plays, THE PRINCE OF AIR, a staged reading of which was presented by Geva Theatre and Firefly, and THE GREAT BEYOND, a staged reading of which was presented by Firefly at the Walnut Street Theatre, both directed by Jeremy Dobrish. Firefly also produced workshops of both plays in New York, and THE PRINCE OF AIR was featured as part of the Open Fist Theatre's 2012 First Look Festival, directed by Laura Flanagan and starring Charlotte Chanler, Katie Costick, Steven Klein, and Mather Zickel. THE PRINCE OF AIR was also a finalist for the 2013 Terrence McNally New Play Award.
